Putting Experience & Love for Zachary to Work
Ambre DeVirgilio was raised in East Baton Rouge Parish, graduating from Baton Rouge Magnet High School. She attended Louisiana State University before transferring to the State University of New York's Fashion Institute of Technology campus where she was conferred two degrees, with honors.
Upon graduation, she began working in the corporate fashion industry along New York City's famed Seventh Avenue, in the heart of the Garment District. Her design career developed an eye for detail as well as a strong business, project management and problem solving acumen. She thrives in collaborative work environments and idea exchanges.
At his retirement from the New York City Police Department, her husband kept his promise that the Louisiana gal in their New York household could finally return home to raise their two children, Luke and Evangeline.
The DeVirgilio Family relocated to Zachary in 2017 and is proud to call Zachary home.
Mrs. DeVirgilio is a member of Zachary Charity League, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation , AIGA (the Professional Association for Design) and has served as a representative for Rollins Place Elementary on the School Board Parental Involvement Committee. She has been elected to two terms in her neighborhood's Homeowner's Association, currently serving as Vice President. During her tenure she identified and assisted with several large-scale neighborhood amenity projects and initiatives. Her volunteer service and neighborhood involvement has lent her experience in working with Zachary's city leaders, public works department and appointed commissions.
These experiences with developed skill sets, along with being engaged in Zachary City Council, Metro Council, City of Zachary Planning & Zoning and Metro Planning Commission meetings have made her informed and ready to be the next Councilwoman elected to the seat for District 3. Ambre believes Zachary's future looks bright and is honored to be among the incredible city servants in the campaign class of 2022.

KEY INITIATIVES IN HER WORDS
OUR CHILDREN, OUR SCHOOLS
I am a public school graduate and I am a strong proponent of a supported, engaged public school district. My children attend Zachary schools where they have thrived emotionally and academically despite the challenges of the last couple of years. No group of parents, teachers and administrators supports our school district the way we do. Our love in this community for these schools and these children is unmatched. ZACHARY IS OUR SCHOOLS AND OUR SCHOOLS ARE ZACHARY. I will partner and collaborate with the Zachary Community School District to make sure the City meets the needs of our children and has plans in place to accommodate the children in our school district.
OUR SAFETY
Feeling safe in your city and your home is paramount to a successful community.
I am committed to working with Zachary Fire Department to maintain our number one fire rating and the policies, equipment needs, and hiring needs necessary to maintain this rating.
I am committed to working with the Zachary Police Department on devising a plan that recruits and retains those willing to serve in our law enforcement body, as well as provides adequate coverage and appropriate response times in our community.
OUR GROWTH
A proponent of smart growth policy and initiatives,
I believe this is achieved through a strong, comprehensive land use plan and unified development code. We must also partner and bridge relationships with our neighboring jurisdictions and municipalities to make sure residents are not negatively impacted through large growth too quickly that our schools, traffic infrastructure and emergency service responding bodies are not equipped to handle. I am committed to a growth policy that fosters Zachary to be a place both long-time residents and newcomers alike are proud of....a spirited, diverse city in our beautiful state that our plant families transferring into WANT to transfer to. I want our community to be a destination that commercial businesses , large and small , turn to and invest in by providing services and amenity businesses for residents. I
OUR FLOODING CONCERNS
In 2016, the river I played on the banks of as a child flooded my childhood home ..... A home full of destroyed tangible memories which was stripped down to the studs causing my to parents live in their driveway for more than six months. The fear and devastation of the Great Flood of 2016 will never be erased from my mind. I understand your concern, I hear your concern and I am committed to working to make sure all stakeholders have done everything possible to prevent this tragedy from happening again. Through smart growth initiatives, engineering studies, working with our department of public works experts, comprehensive land use plans and a strong unified development code we must make sure residents and their families feel confident and safe from the devastation of water creeping into their homes.
